Connect your MT5 account with an EA API key
At the end of this guide, PipLoop lists your MT5 account as Connected.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Your email is verified. PipLoop issues an EA API key only to a verified account (Create an account).
- The PipLoop bundle is installed in MT5 (Install the bundle).
- You are logged into the right account in MT5. A DEMO account is the best place to practise.
The key links one MT5 terminal to your PipLoop account. PipLoop never asks for your broker password: your broker login stays in MT5.
Generate the key
Section titled “Generate the key”-
In PipLoop, open Settings → MT5 Connection.
-
Open the connect panel:
- with no account linked yet, the page says “No MT5 account linked yet.” Select Connect MT5;
- with accounts already listed, select Generate EA API Key, or Connect another account when one of them is connected.
You can also start from Chart Workspace: with no account linked, it shows a Connect MT5 button.
-
In the panel, select Generate EA API Key.
-
The key appears in the EA API Key box. Select Copy EA API Key. The button changes to Copied.
The key is shown only once and is not stored in your browser. Keep the page open until the key is in MT5, and do not share it.
Paste the key into MT5
Section titled “Paste the key into MT5”- In MT5, attach the PipLoop EA to one chart, as in the install guide. If the EA is already on a chart, select that chart and press F7 to open its properties.
- On the Inputs tab, double-click the value of EA API Key, paste the key and select OK.
- Keep MT5 running and logged into your broker.
Check the connection
Section titled “Check the connection”The panel in PipLoop shows “Waiting for MT5 connection…”. When the EA reports in, the panel closes
and your account appears in the list with its broker and a masked login, such as 41****04. Its
status moves through:
- Connected to MT5: the EA is linked and PipLoop is synchronizing the account. Wait a moment.
- Connected: your account data is current. You are done.
The bottom of the left sidebar then reads Live account connected. That label means the connection is current; it shows for DEMO accounts too.
If the status stays on Awaiting MT5 connection, the account is linked but its EA is not reporting; see Troubleshooting connection states.
If you close the page before this happens, nothing is lost. The account appears in Settings → MT5 Connection as soon as the EA reports in.
More than one account
Section titled “More than one account”Each MT5 account needs its own MT5 terminal and its own key. Select Connect another account to generate the next key. Your plan sets how many accounts you can connect: see Connected MT5 accounts in Settings → Plan & billing.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| “PipLoop cannot complete the connection right now. Please try again.” | Select Try again. If your email is not verified yet, verify it first: PipLoop does not issue a key before that. |
| “This EA API Key is no longer valid…” | Generate a new key and paste it into the EA (steps 1 to 6). |
| “This Trading Account is already connected from another MT5 installation…” | Remove the EA from the other terminal. If that terminal is gone, this one takes over after 10 minutes of silence. |
| “Your current plan has reached its connected Trading Account limit.” | Check Connected MT5 accounts in Settings → Plan & billing. |
| The panel stays on “Waiting for MT5 connection…” | Check that MT5 is open, the EA is on a chart with the key, both PipLoop Services are running and the PipLoop address is allowed (install guide). |
| “Could not load trading accounts.” | Select Retry. |
Every other status is explained in Troubleshooting connection states.
