Read your Journal analytics

By the end of this guide you will know where your closed trades are, how to line up your losses side by side, and which Playbook steps earn or cost you money.

Analytics covers the trades you place yourself. Flow trades are left out; their results live in Flow Builder. When some were left out, the Summary says how many.

  1. In the sidebar, open Journal › Journal Entries. Closed trades of your connected account appear here automatically.
  2. The table shows Opened, Trade, Hold, Result, Exit, P&L, Playbook, Setup, Note and Screenshots. The button at the end of a row (View full details) opens the whole trade.
  3. Narrow the list with the filters: period (All time, Today, This week, This month or a custom range), All symbols, All Playbooks or No Playbook, and result (All results, Win, Breakeven, Loss). More filters adds side, Journal completion (Complete, Incomplete, Not started) and whether a note exists. If no trade matches, Clear filters resets them.
  1. Switch from Table to Gallery. Every trade with a screenshot becomes a card showing that screenshot.
  2. Set the result filter to Loss. Group the cards with All or Win | Loss, and sort them by Newest, Biggest win or Biggest loss.
  3. Click a card. The viewer shows Entry and Exit side by side, with the note and setup answers. Step through the trades with the arrow keys and look for the pattern you repeat.
  1. Open Journal › Analytics.
  2. In the header, choose the Source: Live (your MT5 trades), Replay or Backtest (your practice sessions).
  3. Pick a Period: Today, This Week, This Month, Custom or All History. Compare shows the previous period next to it.
  4. Narrow by Playbook, Symbol, Side and TF (the timeframe of the entry screenshot).
  5. Analytics has four sections: Summary, Learn, Refine and Explore.
  • The headline gives the net result, the number of trades and the share that followed the playbook.
  • Under it, the cards to act on are ranked by money: Biggest leak, Stop in time and Keep doing. A card shows only when the sample is large enough (n ≥ 10 and a range clear of zero).
  • View trades ↗ opens those exact trades in Journal Entries, marked From Analytics. Click Show all trades to go back to the full list.
  • Overview shows Net P&L, Win rate, Profit factor, Avg win / loss, Expectancy and Max drawdown. With fewer than 5 trades the ratios stay hidden.
  • Is the data complete? shows how many trades have a Playbook, full answers and a screenshot. Complete … ↗ lists the trades still missing something.

Open Learn and read Costliest mistakes — “no trade” answers taken anyway. Each row names the Playbook and step, the answer you gave, what the playbook says to do, the number of trades and their cost. Click Compare with example to set your trade’s screenshot beside a valid example from the playbook.

Open Refine and click a playbook in Playbook scorecard. On the playbook lists every step with its answers. Green: answers that made money. Red: losing, or traded although the answer says no trade. Grey: fewer than 5 trades. The same colours appear on the playbook in Playbook.

In Refine, the Stop-rule simulator replays your closed trades in order with one rule, such as Stop after 2 losses in a day, a daily loss limit, Max 5 trades a day or Only London session. It compares Actual with With rule for trades, net result and max drawdown. Nothing is traded. The result is a what-if on past trades, not a forecast.

Click Export to download a CSV of the trades for the current period and filters. Export covers the trades on your MT5 account, so it is available when Source is Live.

  • Answer the Playbook on the pending order, so the trade counts as planned before entry (Use a Playbook template on a trade).
  • If Learn says an answer has no “Then”, open the playbook and set where each answer leads, so those trades can be judged.
  • “No closed trades in this period.” Pick a longer Period or another Source.
  • “Account currency unavailable.” Analytics needs your connected account’s currency; check the connection (Troubleshooting connection states).
